In February 2006, I began reporting on a group of ten men who were employed in the office of Architect of the Capitol and their hazardous working conditions inside underground utility tunnels beneath the U.S. Capitol.

March 2006: I was first alerted to the issue by two concerned union leaders and later obtained a letter written to lawmakers by the ten men who worked inside the tunnels. As lawmakers began to learn the extent of the problem, they called for funding and hearings to find out what went wrong.
